How to Study the Bible:
I use Jordan Lee Dooley’s Brighten Your Bible Study ‘method’ to dig deep and engage my mind in scripture.
Below is a template from Cru that will guide you as you learn to understand scripture:
Which Bible should you get?
Often people ask me “what Bible should I get?” I think this depends on your preference. Do you want space to write? Do you want commentary to help you better understand topics? I also get asked “what version is best?” and I’m not quite sure, depending on who you ask, you will get a different answer. I usually stick with the ESV (English Standard Version) or the NIV (New International Version). Here are a few of my recommendations based on my experience:
- Bible with Commentary (my first bible after becoming a Christian)
- Journaling Bible (what I use now)
- The Jesus Bible
